Millwall Football Club was proud to host Jimmy’s Day when Northampton Town visited The Den on Good Friday 14th April.
It marked the fifth consecutive year that The Lions have welcomed the Mizen family and volunteers to a matchday dedicated to Jimmy. The event is a chance to remember the life of Jimmy, a Millwall fan, among the supporters around the ground.
“Millwall supporters have been absolutely fantastic and have got behind us in so many ways. What we wanted to do from the beginning with Jimmy’s Day was show Millwall for the club that it is and what it does in the community.”
Barry Mizen, MBE
On Friday, both Millwall and Northampton players warmed-up in For Jimmy t-shirts and there was also be a bucket collection held around the ground in the build-up to kick-off. The ‘For Jimmy Cup 2017’, a Millwall Premier League Kicks football tournament including participants from Northampton’s community scheme, took place in the Lions Centre earlier in the day and Barry Mizen addressed the crowd pitchside accompanied by selected youngsters from the tournament.
It was a memorable occasion and the support of Millwall fans as always is hugely appreciated both by the Mizen family and For Jimmy. Both Millwall and Northampton fans raised a total of £1636.52 from the day to help support our work building Safe Havens with young people in shops and businesses throughout Lewisham.
