Community

Our experience of running the programme has shown that many children don’t know how they fit into their community. This is especially prevalent when they are in primary school. Our programme helps them to understand their community by using Jimmy’s story to discuss their feelings. We focus on where they feel safe and why it is important to feel safe. This will connect the children’s sense of community and safety.

Peace Builders

We call the children who participate in our programme Peace Builders. This is because by engaging with Jimmy’s story and building Safe Havens on their high street they have worked towards building a safer, stronger and more united community. We believe in the importance of early intervention and aim to break down barriers between children and their community by developing their confidence, teamwork skills and empathy for others.

At the end of the programme the children will have built and visited Safe Havens along their local high street and will receive certificates in recognition of their achievement.
